Idna Werner. Ottoman & Storage Ottoman. May 05th , 2020.
As you might imagine, I learned quite a bit on my search for a new chair and ottoman combo. One of the most important things I learned is that the listings will often provide the dimensions for the ottoman or the chair, but its rare that you’ll get both. When they do include measurements, it’s almost invariably for the chair, leaving one to wonder at the actual size of the ottoman.
The first part of selecting an ottoman is obviously deciding where you want to use it and what kind of feeling you want it to evoke. For my purposes, velvet was the only option, as I wanted the space I was furnishing to have a relaxed and luxuriant feel.
Popular for indoor and outdoor patios, wicker seating is especially inviting when accompanied by a good rattan ottoman. It’s durable, light and easy to personalize. With a few brush strokes, you can turn a white rattan ottoman into a modern, customized pink, green or black wicker ottoman. Just keep your rattan furniture away from extreme heat and humidity and treat it with the occasional cleaning to ensure you enjoy it for years.
Convertible ottoman couches come in a broad variety of designs, though all of them share one thing in common. They compact down into a comfortable ottoman footstool and unfold into an easy to assemble sleeper bed or low ottoman couch. Some varieties of ottoman sofas sacrifice appearance for this functionality, while others find creative ways to accommodate both needs and states.
I knew that the ottoman I was looking for would have storage, be reasonably attractive, and be made of a material that would be durable and comfortable in equal measure. A tall order, I know. Those are some of the other considerations you’ll have to make when you’re looking for your own square storage ottoman.
The ottoman couch has a history as long as the empire after which it was named, but it has yet to stop seeing new innovations occur. While initially, ottoman couches would practically encircle a room, they are now reduced to furniture often found in the corners of rooms, used as footstools, or less commonly couches.
The history of the ottoman stretches back hundreds of years into our past to the years after 1299 when the ottoman empire was founded. While this empire would endure in one form or another until 1922, the furniture that it inspired would continue well into modern day.
